At the invitation of Aberdeen City Council the society were invited to play a public lunchtime concert at Cowdray Hall on Thursday January 26th 2023. These lunchtime concerts are run on a regular basis by the council and feature a whole variety of different artists and genres. Fortunately for us the weather was much better than it had been a week before when the pavements had a liberal covering of ice, consequently we had a good turnout, the hall being full by the time we started.

We played a programme of well kenned Burns music sets as well as other arrangements of 18th century music, i.e. Rory Dahl’s Port and Annie Laurie. Some pieces had a story behind them that we related to the audience, others we introduced with some fragments of Burns poetry that he would have sung with the melodies.

The following evening (27th January) some of us played again at the Marcliffe hotel as guests arrived for a prestigious dinner and Burns Night entertainment arranged by Smith Events Ltd.
