Earlier this year ASRS were pleased to have been invited by Aberdeen City Council to perform at Cowdray Hall on the last Saturday afternoon in January.    Our orchestra on stage numbered more than 20 players including fiddles (2 parts), double bass, cello, accordions, whistle and piano.    The hall was nearly full and the doors were intentionally left open so that members of the public visiting the Art Gallery could come and sit at the back to enjoy the music if they so choose, and quite a few took adbvantage of this.

As you can imagine because of the season, our programme included a majority of sets that are largely attributed to Robert Burns in celebration of the remarkable achievements, in such a short life, of Scotland’s national bard.

The orchestra also included in the programme the Robbie Shepherd tribute sets that we played at our Fiddlers Rally in November 2023.   Robbie died in August 2023 and was one of the societies Honorary Vice Presidents.
